INSTITUTIONAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR STUDENTS

 

Er. Perumal Manimekalai College of Engineering (PMCTECH) believes that success begins with self – discipline and that it keeps the individual growing.

 

A. CAMPUS CONDUCT

  • Discipline is the way of life at PMCTECH which shapes students to become responsible citizens serving their best to the Society and the
  • The College normally functions from 45 a.m. to 4.45 p.m.
  • Students need to be regular and punctual to the classes.
  • Students shall reach the college by college bus/own Vehicle/ private bus.
  • Students shall bring food from home or shall have their Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks available in the College
  • Students shall be seated in the respective Class rooms /Laboratories/Tutorial Rooms- 5 minutes prior to the commencement of the
  • Students shall always maintain perfect discipline inside the Class rooms and Laboratories. Students movement outside the classroom in between lecture hours is strictly probibited.
  • Students shall bring Calculators /Drawing Instruments/Charts, and Observation notebooks for the laboratory classes as per the academic schedule. Record of Experiments done in a class to be got verified by the course Faculty before the next Laboratory classes.
  • Mobile phones are strictly prohibited during class hours.

Adhering to COVID-19 norms are mandatory as per Government Orders.

B. ACADEMIC STANDARD

Regularity in writing the Tests and satisfactory performance of students are expected from all the students and deviation if any, will be reported to the parents through parents meet.

 Absenteeism  in regular classes would be strictly monitored and absenteeism during the Tests would be viewed with utmost stern.

Any student found indulging in malpractice during Examinations are liable to be debarred in appearing for further Examinations.

C. DRESS CODE

  • Uniform provided by the Institution is Compulsory inside the Campus and also during their external visits in connections with Institutional activities/assignments like Industrial Visits, Internsfip, Off campus Drives, Symposium, Conference etc.
  • All boys shall wear neat and clean dress with tucked in Shirt with belt, ID card, socks and shoes, neatly groomed Hair and shaved Beard.
  • Girls shall wear Uniform with Over coat, ID card, socks and shoes with neat hair grooming.
  • All students shall wear the appropriate uniforms as required  for Practical

 

D. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • However, minimum permissible attendance to be maintained to appear for the University Examinations as per University norms.

E. GENERAL

Students are expected to pay the fees before the specific date as notified by the college. Parents and Visitors are permitted to meet their children only after taking permission from HODs.

Students are expected to use professional language with staff members and maintain decorum inside and outside the campus.

General Rules and Regulations

  • Students should compulsorily wear their I.D card inside the college campus.
  • Students should behave with decorum and use only courteous.
  • Students are instructed not to bring any valuable items to the college.
  • Students shall not talk or act in any manner outside the institutions in a way that would bring disrepute to the institutions.
  • Students shall come clean, tidy and smartly dressed.
  • They shall be regular and punctual in attending classes and all activities connected with the college.
  • Students should maintain perfect order and strict silence inside the lecture/drawing halls/ labs/ workshop at all times.
  • No student is permitted to leave the class room during class hours.
  • Students should not leave the class or attend it late under the pretext of paying fees or taking books from libraries. Time fixed for such purposes during working hours must be strictly followed.
  • Students are expected to read notices/circulars displayed on the college notice board. Ignorance of not reading any notice/circular thus displayed shall not be accepted as an excuse failing to comply with the directions contained in it.
  • Spitting, smoking and throwing bits of paper inside the college campus must be avoided.
  • Students are prohibited from damaging the building or furniture in any way. The cost of any damage so caused will be recovered from the students collectively if the responsibility for it cannot be fixed on any individual or group of individuals.
  • Students are strictly forbidden from engaging themselves in any political or other movement.
  • Pasting of wall posters, writing on walls and roads are prohibited.
  • Students are expected to take care of their belongings.
  • Students are expected to contribute towards the academic/ social/environmental initiatives that the Institute may undertake.
  • Participation in intercollegiate programmes, within the city or outside, is subject to permission of the Principal.
  • For outstation program including study tour, the students are required to submit a permission letter from their parents.
  • Students are required to keep safe custody of their valuables. They should maintain decency and decorum during cultural events, be it inside the campus or outside.
  • Laptops/ Computers are to be used within the campus for academic purposes only.
  • Every student should carry his/ her identity card and produce it on demand by the authorities.
  • Students are prohibited from organizing or attending meetings in the college, distributing notices, collecting money and exhibiting banners, flags, posters etc. without the permission of the Principal.
  • Political/ organizational activities are banned in the campus, save those official activities which are specifically permitted or sponsored by the college authorities.
  • Students must park their vehicles only in the allotted parking area. They should not bring four-wheelers to the campus as they arrive for classes.
  • Students found guilty of ragging will be dismissed from the college as per the Supreme Court ruling.
  • The Principal shall be the final authority in the interpretation of the College rules. Matters not covered by these rules are left to the discretion of the Principal and his decision shall be final
  • Students without proper driving license must not come to college in 2 wheeler. If found , severe action will be taken adhering to Government norms.
